We had a wonderful Christmas. The kids were so excited Christmas morning to see what Santa brought. It was a nice break to be able to spend time together without having to go to work, diaylsis, dressing changes, etc. Kendra has her wound vac off for now, hopefully her wound continues to heal well and can keep it off. It looks really good and is so close to being fully healed. She has to take a break from the hyperbaric chamber because somehow it made her eardrum bleed the last time, so she's been put on antibiotics in case there's an infection. Her feeding tube came out last night and she promised to eat good so she doesn't have to have it put back in, so we'll see how she does. She got a lot for Christmas, but her favorite thing has been the boys' ride on toy. She's a little old for it, but we realized she never really got to experience toys like that when they were conjoined. Maliyah is doing good. Dialysis is going well, but we're anxious to get her transplanted. We hope once she is, she won't feel feel sick so much. But overall she usually feels good and is very happy. She also got a lot and probably enjoys her portable CD player the best. She loves music and would spend all day in her room listening to CDs if we let her. Courtney is doing great, she got a Nintendo DS for Christmas and her and mom have been playing the heck out of it. It's fun to see them play together and getting so excited about it. The boys are quickly becoming little men. They play so well together except when they fight over toys. We thought it would be ok not getting them 2 of everything, but we were probably wrong. Alli is getting big and is such as sweet dog. She is so good with the kids and even plays tag with Courtney. She picked Mom as her favorite and is constantly jumping into her lap. Erin doesn't know how that happened, but has really warmed up to her. Things are going even better than we had ever imagined things would be at this time. We hope everyone has a Happy New Year

Wow. Just got the site back up. Sorry about that. Everything has been going great! The kids are very excited for Christmas. Courtney is still doing very well in school and we are amazed at the progress she's made. Kendra's wound is healing nicely and shouldn't be much longer before it's healed. Maliyah is just going right along, dialysis is going well and we think the transplant will take place in a couple months. Austin is starting to talk like crazy and Justin is just starting to say a few words. We went to a Christmas party the other night at our church and Courtney and Maliyah sat on Santa's lap. Maliyah was scared at first, but once we put her on his lap, she was fine. Kendra wanted nothing to do with Santa and screamed when we even took her close to him. It was quite the scene! We are so thankful for all that we have been blessed with and are so luckly to have such wonderful healthly children. Thanks to everyone for all the continued prayers and support. And have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season!

Great News! The test to see if Erin was a match to Maliyah came back and Erin is a 5/6 match. Normally parents are no better than a 3/6. The better the match, the better the chance that the kidney won't be rejected. The chances of finding a better or similar match is very low, so most likely Erin will be the donor. The kids are doing great. Nothing really new to report. We're very excited for Christmas. We're still working on the crutches, but not as often as we should be. It will be nice when the girls go back to school so they can get physical therapy. Austin is starting to talk more and Justin learned to go down the stairs, before Austin did. That is about the only thing he's done first. Courtney is still doing really well in school. She got all A's and B's on her first report card. We're so proud of all our kids. Our lives are so normal now that we forget to take video and pictures like we used to. Thanks for all the continues support and prayers. Here's a recent news story that was done.

Everything is going great. Thanksgiving was a lot of fun. It was nice spending a lot of time together as a family. Sorry for the lack of updates, but things are very settled now, so updates don't need to be as frequent anymore. We'll update as things happen and hopefully get an update at least weekly. Courtney has been putting one leg in her shirt and pretending she has one leg and crawls around like Kendra. Maliyah scoots on her back, so she doesn't have much hair left on the back of her head. We keep trying to get her to turn over, but she always reverts back to what she's used to. Kendra's wound is looking really good. They took off her wound vac for the weekend, because she had a bit of a rash, but it looks a lot better. Austin is starting to talk a little, he says "Uh, oh" and "Alli". Justin is just his sweet self, but still passes out when he gets upset. Alli is a wonderful dog, she just needs a little work letting us know when she needs to go outside. Thanks for all the continued support.

We had a great weekend. On Saturday we got to go down to the BYU football game. They let us sit up in a press box. We were worried that the girls wouldn't tolerate it the whole time, but they had a wonderful time. We even got to meet BYU's legendary coach, Lavell Edwards. It was so much fun, and joked that this was kind of like dad's make-a-wish. We want to thank BYU for the opportunity. Everything else is going great and we're looking forward to Thanksgiving.

Everyone's doing great. Kendra just got tubes put in her ears and is now going to the hyperbaric chamber every weekday. Her wound is doing awesome and we may not need a skin graft. Maliyah was a little sick on Monday and Tuesday, but is doing great now. Maliyah just got her crutches, so we'll start working with her. Have a great weekend!

November 13, 2006
01:59 PM

Everyone is doing great. Kendra had a rash and some swelling on her leg so we took her to the ER on Friday and they determined it was a skin infection, so they put her on antibiotics and sent her home. It seems to be doing much better. Other than that everything is going great. Nothing too exciting to tell, but life is good. Thanks again.

01:14 PM

We just posted new pictures. Maliyah just got a monitor to check her oxygen levels and it seems that she's ok when she's awake, but needs oxygen when she sleeps and when she gets dialysis. So that's one less tube she need to be hooked to during the day. We will continue to monitor her to make sure she can stay off it, but so far she's doing great. Kendra's doing great! We're still not sure if we want to do a skin graft, we hate to put her through another surgery, but we want her to be completely healed, like Maliyah. So we'll let you know what we decide. Erin went a played volleyball at our church last night, so that was a nice break for her. Everything is going about as good as we could ever hope for right now and we are looking forward to the holidays and how thankful we are for all that we have been blessed with in the past year. It has been a wonderful and very memorable year that we will never forget. Thanks for the continued prayers and support.

Everything is going good, not much to report. We had a good weekend. Mom took the kids to their friends house to play on Saturday while Dad took the boys to their cousins' to watch football. Kendra is really coming along on her crutches. Maliyah has a ways to go to put weight on her arms.

November 03, 2006
12:13 PM

Everyone's doing great. We have been working with Kendra on her crutches really hard and she's doing great. She can't do it without help yet, but she'll get there. Hopefully Maliyah's crutches will come soon. We tried to get her to use Kendra's, but she refused. She is pretty stubborn, so it will take her longer, but we'll keep trying. Have a great weekend!

01:20 PM

The kids had a great time last night. It was very cold so the boys and K&M only trick-or-treated on our street. We took Courtney and their cousins out for quite a while and they got so much candy. Courtney got soda at one house and it broke in her bag when she tripped and her candy got wet, but she didn't care. Then when everyone was done we went to a huge mansion and Courtney wouldn't get out of the car because she thought it was haunted. She finally did. We got pictures of her but I forgot to bring the memory card, so I'll have to put them on later.

02:01 PM

The kids are so excited for Halloween tonight. Their cousins are supposed to be coming over to go trick or treating with them. Sorry we didn't get any pictures of Courtney in her costume, she was running around with her friends when we were taking pictures, but we'll make sure we get some tonight. I put up pictures of our van, it's on the menu off the main page under "Van for Sale". The girls are doing great. Kendra's done with her hyperbaric chamber treatments. We haven't seen her wound, but they said it really improved from Friday to Monday. They are worried that more treatments would hurt her ears. The doctor want to do a skin graft, but we're not sure if we want to put her through another surgery. Maliyah had her dialysis catheter redone again yesterday and it went well. Hopefully this will be the last one for awhile. Everything else is going great. Have a Happy Halloween!!!

October 30, 2006
05:23 PM

We had a great weekend. We went to a Halloween party at our church and the kids got to dress up. We put more pictures up so take a look. We went to church again Sunday and the kids had a program. Courtney did such a good job and memorized her part. Kendra did good for about half the program and then wanted to sit with us. Maliyah stayed up there the whole time and sang all the songs and said her and Kendra's parts. We were so proud of all of them. We are looking for a new van. Right now we have a full-size van with a wheelchair lift, but it only seats 6 with the lift in it. We don't think we'll need a lift anymore as the girls are much lighter now being separate and shouldn't be wheelchair dependant forever. So we are looking into a mini-van and think it will be much easier to get the kids in and out of. If anyone is looking for a van with a wheelchair lift, email us and we'll give you the details.

01:04 PM

We had a lot of fun last night. We went to the movies and the girls sat through the entire movie better then they ever have. Then we went out to dinner and they did really well. Kendra got her crutches yesterday. She doesn't like using them much yet, but we will work with her. As far as we've heard the other conjoined twins just born are doing well. We aren't going to update on their progress as it is hard enough to keep up on our own. But we got most of our information from . Have a great weekend.

October 26, 2006
03:28 PM

Everything is going well. The girls are getting fitted for their new wheelchairs today. We are going out to dinner and a movie for Courtney's brithday tonight. The hyperbaric therapy seems to be going well, although we haven't seen her wound since they started.

October 25, 2006
06:10 PM

We will update about the girls later. There is a set of conjoind twins that will be born tomorrow. PLEASE pray for these beautiful baby girls.

October 24, 2006
12:47 PM

We put some new photos on. They aren't very recent, just a few we took over the past several weeks. Sorry none of them has the girls together, because they took turns in and out of the hospital. The hyperbaric chamber therapy went well. Mommy got a little chlosterphobic and had to get "freak out medicine" according to Kendra. Kendra was fine with it. Her aunt Anette will be taking her from now on so mommy doesn't "freak out". Maliyah had a great round of dialysis yesterday and actually finished before Kendra. For those that wanted to know more about hyperbaric therapy, go to

03:49 PM

We had a great weekend. We took all the kids to church Sunday, and they did great. It was a lot of work, but we had a lot of help from some of the wonderful people at our church. The girls were very excited to go and that is just another milestone that we have gotten to. Our lives are slowly but surely getting back to normal. Kendra can stand up against the couch and pull herself onto the couch. Maliyah can get off the couch and scoot around. We can't wait to get their crutches. They are getting Pink and Purple ones, but they have been on backorder. We know they will just take off once they can start practicing with them. Sorry about not posting any pictures recently, but we have just been so busy at home that the last thing we think of is getting the camera. I know we need to be better, so we'll try to get some pictures in the next few days. Kendra started her hyperbaric chamber therapy today, but I haven't heard yet how it went so I'll let everyone know tomorrow.

October 20, 2006
06:07 PM

Maliyah came home yesterday as you all may know. She's doing great. Still a very wild sleeper and she crawled out of bed and was sleeping on the floor when I checked on them in the middle of the night. Kendra starts hyperbaric chamber therapy next week and will probably only need it for a couple weeks. It's nice to have everyone home. By the way, Maliyah is O+ and can receive any O, as some of you were wondering about who can donate. There is tissue typing and other tests they do, so blood type isn't the only requirement.  We don't know yet if we will go outside the family, but will let everyone know if we decide to. Thanks for all the offers and support, it's incredible and humbles us so much to know how many people are there for us. Thanks again to everyone for their support and prayers. Have a great weekend and we'll update again on Monday.

October 20, 2006
01:32 AM

We met with the surgery team for Maliyah's kidney transplant. We really aren't sure if Erin will be able to donate her kidney to Maliyah. With how much healing the girls need they don't think it is wise for Erin to undergo a HUGE operation with 2 children with VERY special needs(with them both in and out of the hospital) and 3 others that need her. We will pray about what will be the best thing for our WHOLE family. We will keep you updated.

October 19, 2006
12:29 PM

Maliyah is coming home today. She's so excited and so is Kendra. They did a CT scan yesterday on Maliyah and can't find any sign of a blood clot, so that is wonderful news, we just don't know why she needs oxygen. She is also tolerating her feeds well. Kendra will start going to the hyperbarick chamber next week. Hopefully it speeds things up. Her wounds are looking a lot better, so maybe a few treatments and we could be done with the wound vac. Maliyah's wounds are closed and she doesn't need a wound vac anymore. The less things we have to worry about the better.

October 18, 2006
12:54 AM

We decided to update again since we didn't give much of an update earlier. It's been a little crazy and hectic, and we just wanted to let everyone know that Maliyah is doing OK, for all those that were worried. Maliyah is missing her dog, Alli, and her brothers and sisters very much. They did an echo on her heart today and found out that her heart is fine, but she has a blood clot in her Vena Cava. They will be starting blood thinners tomorrow to clear that up. It was caused from her dialysis catheter. She probably won't be able to come home tomorrow, because they will have to monitor her for a little while. Erin and Maliyah were painting, coloring and playing doctor today. She loves getting the sharp needles out and giving her doll shots. Erin thinks it make her feel better to be able to poke her doll after they poke her. Dad changed Kendra's wound vac dressing today for the first time. The dressing probably is completely wrong, but she will go in tomorrow to get it re-changed. I couldn't get ahold of Erin for her to help me, but I think I did pretty well. We are looking into doing hyperbaric chamber therapy for Kendra. Thanks to those who recommended it. Dad also painted an old football helmet for Maliyah because she wants to be a football player for Halloween. Kendra wants to be a cheerleader, Courtney wants to be Barbie of Pegasus, Justin is going to be a Teddy Bear and Austin is going to be a Horse. Courtney is doing so good in school, she's at a 2nd grade level in math and loves school. She got 100% on her geography test. She's learning cursive and is very excited about it. The boys are getting a lot of teeth and are in to everything. Good thing for naps or we'd be bald by now. Please don't be worried if we don't update for a few days. The last little while has been overwhelming having one child in the hospital and the others at home. It's really hard on Erin because she spends so much time at the hospital making sure everything is done right for Maliyah. She really misses the other kids and (normal) life. But she really is amazing how knowledgeable she is about the medical needs for the girls and I know I would go absolutely crazy being at the hospital as long as she is every day. We gave her last weekend off from going to the hospital, so hopefully it gives her a little stamina to make it through the rest. I don't do well at the hospital, but am fine with all the kids at home. So hopefully once Maliyah is home, I can send Erin off for a weekend getaway somewhere, if she'll go. Thanks again to all of those who are supporting and praying for us.

October 17, 2006
01:56 PM

Maliyah is still in the hospital, but she is doing good. They started feeding her last night and it went well and she may be able to come home tomorrow.

October 13, 2006
10:59 AM

Sorry we didn't update yesterday. Maliyah is doing well. She's still in ICU but may go to a regular room today. She has been in some pain and the regular pain medicine they give her doesn't work very well on her. They can't give her anything orally yet. Right after the surgery it was funny, Maliyah was her onry self and yelling at us to get her different movies and Erin was getting a little annoyed by it. I told Erin that it's just the medicine making her act that way, and she said "No it isn't, she's always like this." Then Maliyah jumped in and yelled, "YES IT IS!!!" It was pretty funny and we had to laugh. Everyone else is doing good. Kendra's wounds are coming along. Justin is starting to walk on his own little by little. Austin is still Austin, a very busy kid. Courtney is doing very well in school and her teacher said she is very bright. Alli is doing wonderful. She is learning sit, come, stay, speak, and lie down. She is such a smart dog, we can't beleive it.

October 11, 2006
06:48 PM

Maliyah is almost done. The surgery went well, but was more complicated than Kendra's because she had a lot of scar tissue they had to get through. Her intestine had wrapped around the tissue expander that they inserted during the separation to save a space for her kidney. They had to remove the expander, so hopefully there will still be enough space for the kidney. They were able to close her skin completely from the separation, so she won't need a wound vac anymore, which is great. They are just fixing her dialysis catheter then she will go to the ICU. Thanks for all the prayers and support.

October 10, 2006
09:04 PM

Well Maliyah is going in for surgery tomorrow morning. It should be about the same as Kendra's was and they will try and close her up tighter to help her heal faster like they did with Kendra. We know everything will go ok, but it will keep us in the hospital for up to another week, so that is hard. Please pray everything goes smoothly. Thanks for all the continued support. Otherwise she is feeling fine. They are concerned about her needing oxygen and may do some tests on her heart to make sure that is ok. She hasn't needed much oxygen at all and we've had her off it for awhile tonight and she's doing fine. Kendra, Courtney and the boys are all doing fine, so is the dog and mom is getting warmed up to her.

October 09, 2006
06:13 PM

Well, Maliyah has been in the hospital since Friday with some kind of blockage, but they don't think it's the same as Kendra's and haven't said anything about surgery yet. They are doing more testing to find out where it is. But it is very common for dialysis patients to get "backed up" because of diet and fluid restrictions and we think that's all it is. Other than waiting and being in the hospital she's doing very well, as well as everyone else.

October 06, 2006
05:03 PM

Well Maliyah isn't feeling very well today. She threw up twice last night (which isn't that uncommon) so we stopped her feedings. And she has thrown up about 3 times today and doesn't feel very good. After dialysis they will do an xray to make sure it's not a blockage like Kendra had. Hopefully it's nothing and she starts feeling better. Everyone else is doing great.

October 05, 2006
05:16 PM

Nothing new to report. Last night Maliyah was on her climbing kick again and got stuck between her bed and the bookcase. She still loves to eat paper and gets angry when you tell her not to. Kendra is pretty easy going and happy. Courtney is doing very well in school and likes her new school a lot. Justin still won't walk much, but can if we encourage him to. Austin is a busy boy. He always has to have something in his hands and gets into everything.

October 04, 2006
12:45 PM

The girls are doing great. Maliyah is the wildest sleeper I've ever seen. Last night she was completely on her pillow, with her whole body against her headboard and her head hanging off the side of the bed. I don't know how Kendra put up with her when they were together. Then she managed to climb on the top of her bookcase to get her cup of water. We put her water out of reach because we have to limit her fluid intake because of dialysis. Maliyah looks so chubby because of all the fluid she retains. It's so cute. The girls continue to go to the hospital on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for their wound dressing changes and Maliyah's dialysis. So those days are very hard and exhausting for both Erin, Amy (my sister who helps Erin) and the girls. Overall, it's been a pretty good week.

October 03, 2006
04:41 PM

Everything is still going great. The girls are eating better and healing well. Still a long way to go before they are fully healed, but the progress so far is significant. Thanks for the continued prayers and support.

October 02, 2006
03:47 PM

Everyone is doing great. Nothing new to report. Maliyah is really warming up to Alli (the new puppy). She used to be deathly afraid of all dogs and now Kendra (who wished for her) is more weary of her. She'll warm up to her soon enough. We took all the kids on a wagon ride last night. They really like to be outside. It was nice to have one day to not have anything going on and to just be a family. We are starting to get a routine and it's starting to feel not so overwhelming anymore, but we'll continue to have ups and downs.

September 30, 2006
10:46 PM

Sorry about the website. I hope it will finally stay up. It's been a crazy week. Kendra came home yesterday. She's doing really well. We found out this morning that Maliyah had an infection in her dialysis catheter, so we had to take her to the ER to get IV antibiotics. Then after about 5 hours we got to go home. Then Kendra's IV went bad so we had to take her back to the hospital so they could place a new one. But everything is fine now. Hopefully we won't have to go near the hospital until Monday. Thanks for the patience while getting the website back up.

September 27, 2006
12:32 PM

Well, Kendra is back in the hospital. Yesterday her broviach broke and Erin took her to the hospital to fix it. They fixed it, then when they got home Kendra starting to not feel so well and was running a fever. So she took her back up to the ER. They got some blood for testing and gave her some antibiotics and IV fluids and she started feeling better, so she brought her home. Well at 3AM I get a call saying that her blood test grew out a nasty bacteria quickly and that we better get her back to the hospital so they can start antibiotics. So I brought her in. She's doing fine other than not wanting to be in the hospital. They will be taking her broviach (permanent IV) out later today. They think that is the source. So we shouldn't be in the hospital long.

September 26, 2006
06:06 PM

Everything is still going well. Nothing really new to report. Kendra is not feeling so well today, she may have a bladder infection. Maliyah may be off her wound vac soon, as her wounds are pretty close to fully healed. Again thanks for everything.

September 25, 2006
01:12 PM

Finally got some new pictures on. We had a good, yet tiring weekend. Sorry we weren't able to update more, weekends are tough. I will probably be able to update most weekdays, so plan on updates Monday through Friday, but probably not weekends unless something significant happens. The girls are doing great. We finally got through a whole night without a pump or some kind of alarm going off, so that was nice. We've come to the conclusion that no 1 person can take care of all 6 (including the dog) kids at once. Yesterday mommy took a nap and daddy almost went completely insane. We've also come to the conclusion that our house will not stay clean longer than 3.2 seconds when the kids are home. It's so much fun though and wonderful being home.

September 24, 2006
02:06 AM

Sorry for the late update, it's been a crazy day. The girls are doing good. They are very tired. We had our first outing as a family today, to their cousins' house. They had fun, but were ready to come home. The new puppy is great. She is already so well behaved. She goes to the bathroom outside really well. She is very calm, yet playful. Maliyah has really warmed up to her and Kendra seems more timid now for some reason. I think Kendra just had a hard day and didn't feel like playing with her. Maliyah had to go on oxygen, because when she went in for dialysis last time her oxygen was pretty low. So that's just something else they have to be hooked to. Hopefully soon, we'll be able to start taking things away, instead of adding new things. But it's still much better than being in the hospital, even though it's so much work.

September 22, 2006
01:58 PM

The girls are doing good today. They got their puppy yesterday and were a little timid of her at first, but once we started playing with her and showing them that it wasn't scary, they warmed up to her and held her. They had an argument today about who was her mommy, each saying that she was. They don't like her to lick them though, but we'll work on that. She is so tiny and Courtney carries her around like a rag doll. She got up very early to get her out of her crate. The boys love her too. Justin tries to head butt her and it just licks him and he laughs. Austin pets her and barks like a doggy. We know she'll be a wonderful addition to our family. They changed Kendra's formula for her feeding tube and it seems to be helping. She's less dehydrated. Maliyah slept through the night and was the last one to get up this morning. She's doing great. I'll post pictures as soon as I can. Watch 20/20 tonight for a little update about the girls coming home and their new puppy.

September 21, 2006
11:23 AM

Sorry about the last entry. What a few people have written has not discouraged us one bit. It just bugs me that some people would use our guestbook to try and make a statement and the only reason it bothers me is that I have to take the time and delete the stupid thing every time someone writes something ignorant. I just wanted to let people know that our faith is too strong for that to even come close to having an impact on us. Anyway sorry about the rant. The girls are doing good. They had a better night's sleep last night. We are having to give Kendra extra fluid at night because she is getting dehydrated, hopefully that will clear up soon. Maliyah had no pain last night. We have to figure out things that Maliyah can eat and it seems that almost everything is a no. The kids get their new puppy today and they (and daddy) are so excited. Thanks for the huge response to the last update, but it really was no big deal, don't worry.

September 20, 2006
04:14 PM

The girls are doing great today. Last night we got to eat dinner with everyone at the table. K&M didn't eat much, but it was very nice and something all of us missed so much. The girls seem to be taking full advantage of their operation. Maliyah wanted to go to bed early last night and Kendra didn't so they were able to each do what they wanted. And this morning Mom and their Aunt Amy took them to the hospital for dialysis and wound dressing changes and they both wanted to ride in Amy's car, but she only had one car seat. So it was agreed that Maliyah would ride to the hospital and Kendra would ride home with her. We can already tell that this is what they wanted and it feels good to have that reassurance from them. One other thing I want to bring up. Several people have expressed their negative opinions about God, prayer, and our specific faith. We understand that there are those that have different views than us and we respect that, but you don't have to disrespect our views so that you can try and make a statement. We encourage all that want to learn more about our religion to do so, but don't degrade it when you don't know anything about it. We know that without it we would have never made it this far. We know that the Lord has a plan for all of us and that our trials have been to strengthen our family as well as to inspire and strengthen others. We know that those that try to insult and bring us down, do not have the understanding that we do. There was a time when religion wasn't of any interest to me, but going through the things we have has made me see that it needs to be the most important thing in my life and I still struggle to make it that. It is so easy to get caught up in things that don't matter. We just hope and pray that by sharing our experiences with the public that it may make an impact, no matter how minuscule, on how you see life. We know that all prayers are heard, no matter what religion. Many of our doctors have told us about their experiences during the separation surgery. We know without a doubt that without God's help, we wouldn't have had such a great outcome. We give all the credit in the world to our doctors, our angels. We wish everyone could have been in the waiting room as we waited for K&M. There was a feeling that was stronger then I have ever felt before and I think anyone who was in that room would say the same thing. There was no denying it. We continue to thank all those that have prayed for us and even just supported us. We read and cherish all the nice comments that we are sent or are written in the guestbook, even though we aren't able to respond to most. We hope to one day be able to let K&M and the rest of our family read all the wonderful things people have written from all over the world. This has been such a wonderful experience, however difficult at times. We thank you all so much for caring so much.

Sorry for the late updates, the website has been doing some really weird stuff the last couple days and now just isn't a good time to be doing that. The girls are doing really well. Kendra got a feeding tube last night because she just isn't eating enough, even though she wants to. So hopefully it will help her heal faster. Maliyah got down on the ground on her back and scooted just like she did when they were conjoined. We need to teach her a different way so she doesn't have a bald spot forever. They will be getting crutches pretty soon, so they are excited. Today Kendra hit Maliyah with a Barbie, so she was punished for the first time separately. We sent her to her room, where she fell asleep. Before there wasn't really a way to punish one without punishing the other, so that's another plus. It is so nice to be home. Maliyah slept much better last night, so I think it will keep getting better now that we're out of the hospital. I should have new pictures up in a little while.

Everything is going great. Maliyah is getting dialysis right now and Kendra is at home. They are quite a lot of work, but I think once we get on a routine, it won't be too bad. Kendra slept great, she was out like a light once we put her to bed. Maliyah cried every couple of hours because of her muscle spasms. She is on a muscle relaxer, but it didn't seem to make a difference. We will post some new pictures as soon as we get a chance. Thanks.

Well the girls are home and they're doing great! There was a huge homecoming party for them. All their family, friends, and neighbors were outside to greet them as they came home. They wanted to see their new beds. Kendra played her computer. Maliyah went on a walk in the stroller. Courtney pulled Kendra in the wagon. They played with their little brothers and their brothers seemed so excited for them to be home. We put Kendra down on the ground and she crawled around like she had been doing it for years. It's so wonderful to be back together as a family again. It sure is a lot of work though, but it's so well worth it. Thanks again to everyone.

08:04 PM

We're coming home tomorrow!!! We are so excited. We have been getting this house and the girls' room ready. We can finally get back to a somewhat normal routine. We aren't sure what time we can come home, they have to check Maliyah's labs and make sure she doesn't need a little dialysis.

September 15, 2006
04:04 PM

Well no homecoming today. There is still a lot to be worked out as far as their home care. But we could come home as early as Sunday, but I wouldn't be surpised if it was Monday or Tuesday. We just know it will be soon and that we have a lot to look forward to. Thanks again to everyone for the support.

03:02 PM

Everything is still going great. We still don't know for sure when they will come home, it looks to be Monday. The girls are very excited to come home and now we get to count down to a good thing instead of to surgery. Don't worry, we will continue to update once we are home. As time goes on, it may not be daily, but it will be for awhile to let everyone know how the girls are adjusting and improving. It feels good to know that there are so many concerned with their well being.

10:34 PM

GREAT NEWS!!! The girls may be going home soon. It's possible that they may go home on Friday, but most likely it will be Monday. They have to order everything for the home cares and it may not be ready by Friday. We hope so. Thank you everyone for praying for us. We know every one of the prayers have been heard and we appreciate all the support we have gotten. This has been an amazing experience. It has brought us even closer as a family and while it has been very tough, it has taught us so much. We are so glad that we were able to touch as many lives as we have. We know we still have a long way to go with their recovery and another surgery, but this is a big step. Thanks again to everyone, this will forever be one of the most memorable events of all of our lives and I hope we never forget all the wonderful experiences we've had going through it.

02:29 PM

The girls are doing so good today. Kendra is eating like crazy to avoid getting a feeding tube. Maliyah is going back to the OR to get her broviach out. Hopefully the medicines don't bother her too much. Their wounds are looking so good. Thanks again for all the support and prayers and everything else.

September 12, 2006
10:35 PM

The girls are doing great today. As you can see from the pictures, Kendra sits up big. She feels so good. Maliyah does too, when she isn't having muscle spasms. Maliyah is getting her broviach out tomorrow because it is infected. But that's one less thing she has to be hooked to. Kendra got one of her lines out today and her urine catheter out, so just one step closer to going home. We're hoping that is soon. We can't wait and neither can they. A nice family is giving us a boxer puppy because Kendra wished for one on 20/20. We were able to convince Mom to let us have it. We're naming it Alli and we'll get it soon after the girls come home. All the kids are so excited, they love dogs.

September 11, 2006
06:55 PM

The girls are doing good today. They are both feeling better. They stopped Kendra's feeds to give her bowel another day or so to recover from the surgery. Everything is going great, it's just really a waiting game now until they can come home or something bad happens, so no news is good news. Thanks for all the support.

September 10, 2006
10:21 PM

The girls haven't felt very well today. Kendra's been throwing up all day and Maliyah did a little too. We wonder if they got sick with what our other kids had this week. Other than that, everything is going good. I think we're pretty anxious to get the girls home so hopefully things will go well so we can pretty soon.

September 09, 2006
08:27 PM

The girls are doing great today. I (Dad) haven't seen them today, I got to stay home and watch football. Mom will get to stay home tomorrow. Courtney went with Mom to see them today. She is doing very good in school and seems to like it. The boys are such handfuls, they get into everything. Hope everyone got to see 20/20 last night. Thanks for the support.

September 08, 2006
01:04 PM

Both girls are doing great! Kendra got moved back to her room yesterday afternoon. She is on no pain medication and can maybe start drinking tomorrow. Their wounds are doing great, better every day. The boys are feeling much better today and Courtney is liking school. Remember to watch 20/20 tonight to see an update on the girls. Thanks.

September 07, 2006
03:29 PM

Kendra is doing great today. This morning when I got there, I kissed her on the forehead and she woke up and was not happy. I asked her if she wanted her breathing tube out and she nodded yes. Then she pointed up, and I asked her if she wanted to go back upstairs to her old room and she nodded yes. So they took her off the ventilator and she has been sleeping comfortably since. Hopefully she'll be able to leave the ICU later today. She said she doesn't hurt and the doctors feel that there shouldn't be a whole lot of pain. She looks forward to eating and getting better so she can go home. Maliyah is doing well. She misses Kendra but did really well without her. Justin and Austin got sick yesterday, probably what Courtney had. Courtney seems to like her school, but she doesn't like the fact that they don't have monkey bars.

September 06, 2006
06:22 PM

Kendra is all done. The doctors say that it went better than expected. They were able to breakup all the scar tissue and reposition her intestines to hopefully prevent this from happening again. They removed the pins from her pelvis. They closed her up a little closer than before so hopefully she will heal a little faster. She will be in the ICU overnight and be ventilated and hopefully come back to her room tomorrow. Thanks for all the prayers and support.

September 06, 2006
02:14 PM

Well Kendra goes in for surgery in about an hour. Hopefully it will be very straight forward and quick. She will most likely spend the night in the ICU and hopefully be back with Maliyah tomorrow. They spent most of the morning in the playroom. Kendra got to play a Dora computer game. Courtney went to school today, hopefully it goes well. We'll update again after surgery.

September 05, 2006
04:48 PM

The girls are doing good. Kendra's blockage is still just slightly better so they may go ahead and take her to the OR to repair it in the next couple days. Other than that she feels great. Maliyah is doing great and healing very well. Courtney got sick last night and had to miss the first day of her new school. Austin is walking everywhere now. Justin takes 4 or 5 steps to us, but is reluctant to try and walk on his own. Please pray that if she has to have surgery that it will go well and won't set her back too far. Thank you for all the support and prayers.

September 04, 2006
01:07 PM

The girls are doing great today. Kendra's blockage just keeps getting a little better everyday. She is looking forward to eating again. Her wounds are healing well. Maliyah is doing great, her wounds are pretty close to being mostly healed. Last night Kendra was being pretty onry and wanted Maliyah to go sleep in her own room. I thought we'd never hear that. They now have the option and are using it. They both slept pretty well and are being nice today.

September 03, 2006
08:31 PM

Things are going good today. Kendra's blockage is slowly getting better and she is feeling much better tonight. Maliyah has been eating paper the last few days and we joked that maybe her iron was low, and in fact it was, so she's getting some blood tonight. She was sleeping most of the day and she's really perked up since they started the blood. K&M had a little fight today. Maliyah was reading a Dora book and Kendra wanted it, so she was yelling at Maliyah to give it to her. Before, they could read books at the same time, so this is something they will have to learn.

September 02, 2006
09:13 PM

Sorry for the delay on the update. We have been having problems with the website. Kendra is doing ok. They gave her an x-ray this morning and say things look a little better, so they will continue what they're doing. Maliyah is doing great. Courtney got to go up with her sisters all day. The boys have just been hanging out at home.

September 01, 2006
03:17 PM

A little bump in the road today. Kendra was throwing up all night and they think she may have an intestinal blockage. They are stopping her feeds to see if it will correct itself. If it doesn't they may need to operate. Please pray that it will correct itself. Maliyah is doing really well. She is very excited to watch football with dad tomorrow. Both girls are still healing nicely, but have a ways to go.

August 31, 2006
11:53 AM

Everything is still going great. Yesterday the girls got quite a few visitors. Maliyah didn't sleep much last night, so she is asleep this morning. She was up all night squirting all the nurses with water while Kendra had a full night sleep. This morning Kendra scooted from one end of her bed to the other. She is so ready to start getting around. Courtney got in to a new charter school that does a lot of art, music, and dance so she is excited. She starts that Tuesday. We had to take her out of her old school, so it was a tough decision for us. A lot of her friends are going and she loves art, music, and dance, so we'll try it out. Courtney, Justin, and Austin are coming to the hospital today so that will be exciting.

August 30, 2006
02:10 PM

The girls are doing great today. Last night they got to go on wagon rides outside. They loved that and didn't want to come back in. They got to sleep in the same bed last night and they both slept very well. Maliyah is completely back to her question asking self. She is so hilarious and it's so good to have her feeling well. Kendra is her same happy self, but we can tell she is happy to have her sister to talk to. They both fully understand what happened and they even joke that now they are "cut apart" and "that's cool, huh." It's almost like nothing happened because they are completely the same when they are together. The healing is progressing but we still have a ways to go. Thanks to everyone for everything they have done to support us.

August 29, 2006
02:04 PM

The girls are doing wonderful today. They talked to each other on the phone this morning and now are in the same bed, talking up a storm to each other. They will be just fine in every way. Erin's feeling better today and coming up this afternoon. The girls had a wonderful night and played together last night when their grandparents were here with them. Maliyah is totally back to her question asking self. We love it! Kendra had breakfast this morning, and up until now she hasn't had much of an appetite. Things are progressing well, new pictures should be up in a few minutes.

August 28, 2006
03:48 PM

The girls are leaving ICU today. They are just getting their new rooms ready. Kendra and Maliyah had a water fight today squirting water out of syringes at the nurses, daddy, and each other. Maliyah is just about back to her old self. She is talking a ton and laughing and smiling. She stutters and slurs so she is still having effects from the medication. Kendra is doing fine as always. They put wound vacs on the girls today. Basically it's a vacuum that they attach to their wounds to help them heal better. Mom still has a cold, so we keep her away. Hopefully the girls will be able to see their brothers and fiends soon. Courtney went up last night and played with them, they loved that. Thanks for everything. We know we would have not made it this far without all the prayers.

August 27, 2006
04:20 PM

We haven't seen the girls yet today, but the report from their grandparents is that Maliyah is talking more and they took them on a wagon ride outside. I even talked to Kendra on the phone and Maliyah even said "Hi" to me on the phone. The nurses said that Maliyah didn't sleep much last night. Erin isn't feeling well so she probably got a cold from the boys. The boys are starting to feel better though. They are such monkeys and can destroy our clean house in a matter of seconds. Hopefully Erin feels better soon, because I don't do well being Mr. Mom. Courtney and I will go up to see the girls later today.

August 26, 2006
12:51 PM

Yesterday we were able to hold Maliyah alone for the first time ever! We had been waiting for that for a very long time. It was so nice and she cuddled down on our chests. Kendra can't be held yet because her wounds need to heal a bit more. The girls are doing great. Kendra ate nachos this morning, she hasn't had much of an appetite because of her feeding tube. Maliyah has been smiling and playing even more today, but still won't talk. She holds saliva in her mouth and refuses to swallow, we think that might be part of the reason and I still don't think she feels like herself yet. Maliyah is very wiggly and they had to put the rails on her bed up last night. They also took their first wagon rides (apart) together yesterday. They even did a race that ended in a tie.

August 25, 2006
12:52 PM

Everything's going great. They will be getting ready for the girls to leave the ICU, probably on Monday. We moved the girls back together last night. Maliyah is doing even better today. She has been playing quite a bit. She isn't saying much, so she may be having a hard time getting adjusted to everything. That's ok though, she can go at her own pace. We know she'll get through it, she's so strong. She won't have to have dialysis today and they will start transitioning her to dialysis 3 times a week. Kendra is just a little cheese. I've never seen a little girl so happy considering what she's been through. I think she will help Maliyah more than anyone. Justin and Austin have colds, so hopefully they don't give them to us. But they are doing really well.

August 24, 2006
09:13 PM

Sorry about the website being hacked. I guess some losers can't find a real computer job like mine and have to get their "props" destroying other people's stuff. Everything's going well still. We'll update again in the morning. Thanks.

August 24, 2006
11:48 AM

Maliyah is back!!! She slept 9 hours straight last night and this morning she's responding to us. She is still very quiet and probably has some more waking up to do, but this is miles ahead of where she was. They took Kendra to the room next door yesterday, so Maliyah could have a quiet room. We may move her back today, we asked them both and they both say they want to be together. Kendra can now go on short wagon rides, though she says she doesn't want to. Courtney had a good first day of school. She is such a picky eater that she ate almost nothing for lunch. We may have to pack her lunches on the days she doesn't like what's on the menu.

August 23, 2006
12:28 PM

They took Maliyah off all narcotics last night and she is doing much better today. She is still pretty agitated but much better than she was. There is no sign of any pain, but we'll have to watch out for withdrawals. Hopefully another day and she'll be back to herself. Kendra is just hanging out, having a grand ol' time. Her wounds are looking better everyday. She has even called us on the phone a few times over the past few days. Courtney started school today. She had no apprehension about it either. We are so proud of her. She has grown up so fast, we can't believe. Thanks for all the prayers, emails, messages, letters, cards, and gifts. It means so much to us that so many people are watching out for us.

August 22, 2006
01:16 PM

Maliyah went back to the OR last night so they could clean some of her wounds and while she was there the anesthesiologist got her off all her medications but one. We think maybe all of the medications she was on is causing her to be irritated and delirious. Hopefully they will all be out of her system soon. She was also a little dehydrated so they gave her some fluid. She was able to sleep comfortably last night, but this morning she is still very irritated. Hopefully her dialysis today will take most of the medications out of her body. Kendra is just going along like nothing's wrong. She asks about Maliyah sometimes and talks about how she was "cut apart". But she is as happy as can be. We can't wait until Maliyah is back to herself so K&M can feed off each other. We were saying last night how cute Kendra is, but she's not Kendra without Maliyah. Their outgoing natures feed from each other. We can't wait to see that again.

August 21, 2006
02:35 PM

Kendra is doing very well, she's just playing and healing like no other. Everything is coming along and if it were up to her she'd be out of bed and running around. Maliyah's leg cramps seem to have subsided, but she is very irritated. They are changing her pain meds again to see if that will help. But medically she is doing great. She will probably come off continuous dialysis later today and go to once a day hemo-dialysis.

August 20, 2006
01:16 PM

Nothing new to report. Maliyah is still having leg cramping. Kendra is doing really well. We get to spend the morning at home while Grandma and Grandpa stay with the girls. So it's nice to spend some time with our other kids.

August 19, 2006
01:39 PM

Everything is going great. Kendra is sitting up in bed and playing. Maliyah has been sleeping, but she complains that her leg is hurting. We think it may be cramps. Everything else is great with her. Their feedings are going well. The doctors are pleased with their progress. Hopefully they'll be able to leave the ICU soon.

August 18, 2006
11:58 AM

They placed feeding tubes in both of the girls today, so they weren't too happy about that. Everything is progressing well. They can now eat whatever they want with the exception of Maliyah being on a renal diet. The added nutrition is supposed to help their healing. The boys are doing great, they are getting bigger by the day and we so miss seeing them very much. Courtney is starting 1st grade next week and she is very excited. I think mom and dad are more nervous than she is. Our nephew Luc had his MRI and there was no growth in the tumor. Thanks everyone for the prayers and support.

August 17, 2006
10:07 PM

The girls are doing wonderfully tonight. Kendra has been playing and smiling all day, but Maliyah wasn't doing so well until her dialysis machine shut down, and as soon as she was taken off she was the smiley little girl we love. She started eating and the first thing she wanted was chicken, but the doctors wanted her to try some crackers first, so she ate 2. Hopefully they'll let her have her chicken soon. We pushed their beds close together again so they could touch and Kendra tickled Maliyah's foot. Emotionally they will be just fine, the preparation paid off. They are their happy selves and seem to understand what happened to them. They miss each other and can't wait to get in the same bed again, but they tell us they are happy. We're so excited. Maliyah, however, still maintains that the flower talkeded to her. I'm sure it did.

August 17, 2006
11:42 AM

Things are going well today. Yesterday afternoon they took Maliyah into the OR to change he dialysis catheter. So she was back on the ventilator overnight, but she's back off. She's had a little low blood pressure, so they gave her another unit of blood. Kendra is doing really good. The only problem with her is that her wounds aren't healing as well as Maliyah's because they had less skin to use. Kendra has started to ask why Maliyah isn't "stuck to me" anymore, so we have just reminded her about what we talked about before surgery, and she seems ok with it. Although she says she misses her. But we told her that once they are all better, they can get in the same bed and even pretend they're still stuck together. She gave us a huge grin when we told her that. Maliyah hasn't felt as well as Kendra the last couple of days, so hopefully she'll start feeling better and start talking to us and even Kendra more. Some questions were asked about their legs and how they were straight forward when they were conjoined, so how they would be now. The orthopedic surgeons were able to rotate their pelvises some to hopefully bring their legs straight, but we won't for sure how much until they start standing. Thanks for the continued support and keep praying that the healing continues to go well.

August 16, 2006
08:46 PM

We just posted new pictures, take a look!

August 16, 2006
06:41 PM

Well I changed servers. Don't be alarmed by the weird address that it redirects to. I just have to wait for the domain name to change over. The girls are doing good. Maliyah has had some pain in her leg and they did a CT scan to make sure everything was ok with her pelvis and it was. Kendra got to eat yogurt today, so that made her very happy. We'll post some new pictures when we get a chance. Hopefully this server will handle all the traffic better. Thanks.

August 16, 2006
10:24 AM

Maliyah is doing better this morning. The blood seemed to help and she slept pretty good last night. This morning Maliyah looked up at a toy flower she has by her bed and said "That flower talkeded yesterday." She must have been on a pretty wild ride. Kendra is doing well too. She's been asleep most for the morning. We had a wonderful breakfast this morning with all of the surgeons, nurses, and staff that has been involved with K&M. They took group photos and just had a wonderful celebration.

August 15, 2006
11:59 PM

Maliyah had a hard afternoon and evening. We don't think she slept very well the past couple of nights and she started hallucinating. They were also giving her morphine which we were told could mess with her mind. They put her on something else now. She said she was seeing things like ants on mommy and snakes. I went through that once as a kid when I was sick and it was very scary. They ran some tests and concluded that she needed a unit of blood. So they gave that to her and she was able to rest comfortably. Hopefully she gets a full nights rest. Kendra would cry when Maliyah would. But as soon as Maliyah would calm down, Kendra would play and smile with us and she even sang some of her Disney Princess songs that we played on the radio. She was so cute and sweet. Hopefully Maliyah will feel better in the morning. One thing funny that Maliyah said while she was hallucinating was "I don't like that kind of taffy." Then Kendra said "Why doesn't Maliyah like yellow taffy?" We just had to laugh at some of the things Maliyah would say out of the blue, although it breaks our hearts to see her that way.

August 15, 2006
04:33 PM

I got a very nice phone call today from the Mayor of Herrin, Illinois, Vic Ritter. He said that the town of Herrin would like to adopt our family and be the Twin City to the Twin Sisters. And that if we ever come through we could stay for free. We continue to be amazed by all the wonderful things people do and the ways people are showing their support. Thanks again to everyone who emails, writes, sends gifts, cards, flowers, or prays for us.

August 15, 2006
02:29 PM

Well Maliyah had an orange popsicle and Kendra had some ice water. They're doing great and their spirits are high, except when the doctors are bugging them. Maliyah seems to be back to her normal post surgery self of ordering us around. We're so excited to have are cute little girls back. We still have a long way to go for them to get back to their rambunctious selves. But we know that's not too far away.

August 15, 2006
10:56 AM

Things are going great today. Maliyah is talking much more, and smiling. Kendra is as well. We see progress every day and that means it's one day closer to going home. Thanks for all the emails, prayers, gifts, and support.

August 14, 2006
09:02 PM

We had a very good day today. Kendra's spirits are quite high. She made funny faces to her grandpa and talked to her sister Courtney. Maliyah was still pretty quiet, but the nurses made her laugh after we left by letting her kick them in the butt. K&M got to hold hands for the first time since their surgery today. They haven't really talked about it yet, but hopefully our preparation has paid off. So far it seems to. I know it will still be quite an adjustment for them and we'll have to work through it, but they will like they do everything else. There's no doubt about that. They get to start clear liquids tomorrow, so they should be happy about that. Thanks again to everyone for their prayers and support, it's paying off ten fold.

August 14, 2006
03:18 PM

The girls are doing good today. About the same as yesterday. They both have asked to eat so hopefully they'll let them eat soon. Everything's coming along, not much to report.

August 13, 2006
11:09 PM

Maliyah started playing with bubbles today and she also gave us high fives. She talked a little, but still is very quiet. We think her throat is hurting and she doesn't like the tube in her nose, so she is refusing to swallow. Kendra is more vocal, but more sleepy, Maliyah didn't sleep at all today. They pushed their beds closer together tonight. Courtney went to St. George with her cousins for the weekend. She will be back pretty soon. We will probably take her to the hospital tomorrow to see her sisters.

August 13, 2006
12:42 PM

The girls are doing so good today. They are awake and doing good. Kendra has given us a high five and push against the bed to change her position. She even got mad at us for not ordering breakfast, but she can't eat yet. Maliyah has been really quiet, she got mad at the doctors when they came in. So that's pretty normal. They even had their first sharing problem, when they both wanted to watch the same movie. They are comfortable and not in any pain. The doctors say that everything is healing like it should.

August 13, 2006
02:08 AM

Girls are still doing great. Hopefully they'll start talking to us more. They haven't said too much yet, but they seem very comfortable and not in any pain. Erin and I got to take a little break this evening. She went out to dinner with my niece, while I went to the Real Salt Lake vs. Real Madrid soccer game with my nephew. An interesting thing happened as we were getting ready to leave. My nephew's company cleans the stadium, so we were in a part of the stadium where the team buses park. So we got to see the entire Real Madrid team get on the bus not 5 feet away from us. And I also got to meet Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes as they left. They gave me their autographs and I got a picture with them. My friend told them who I was and Tom was concerned and asked if the girls were ok and wished us good luck. It was a very good day all around.

August 12, 2006
05:21 PM

Well, they are both off the ventilators now. Maliyah beat Kendra by about 10 minutes, only because they couldn't extubate them at the exact same time, but we'll call it a tie. They are doing great. They have woken up but are still really drugged, so they really don't know what's going on. We're so proud of them.

August 11, 2006
11:25 PM

I hope everyone got to see 20/20 and the 2News special (for those in Utah). They were both done very well. I hope it gave everyone a sense of K&M's intelligence and personalities. It made us ball like babies hearing them talk again. We can't wait for them to talk and assure us that they are as happy as ever. They are our heroes. I don't know what else to say. We are just doing what any good parent who loves their children would do. Kendra and Maliyah are the true inspirations. Our lives right now are like a touching movie that never ends. I have never cried like this before in my life. The thought of any one of many different things about this whole experience makes me sob like a pregnant women (and I'm a man!). Speaking of which, my niece and nephew Jorge and Monica(who you probably saw on TV that were literally behind us in every shot) just announced they're pregnant again with their second. We are so elated. They have been such a support to us through all of this. Also, my nephew, Luc, just had another MRI to look at his desmoid tumor to see if it had grown. Please pray for him, that it will shrink and not grow anymore.

Just wanted to give a quick update about something funny with the girls. At first Maliyah was behind Kendra on when she would come off the ventilators, now Maliyah is ahead of Kendra. We are looking for Kendra to rally though. They are probably trying to have a little race between them, it wouldn't surprise if it ends in a tie. Actually that's what we're hoping. Also Maliyah has turned on her side and is now laying the way she was conjoined. It is quite sweet, but that is the way she feels most comfortable.

The girls are coming along awesome. No real issues whatsoever. They are still on the ventilators and we're in no big hurry to get them off. Maliyah actually was fairly alert for a few minutes this morning. She's so sweet, but you could still see her ornery streak. Kendra has moved around some too. Watch 20/20 tonight and those in Utah watch channel 2 at 9:30 for a special about K&M. Thanks to everyone, so many of the kind emails have put us in tears. We love you all.

The girls are doing great. What else can I say? Sorry there has been nothing to really report. They have been moving a lot when we are in there, so we may try not being in there so much, because they may hear are voices and want us to hold them. But thanks for everything.

The site is back up (duh, you wouldn't be reading this if it wasn't). Hopefully we can get it over to a new server soon. I know I might regret what I'm about to do, but we setup a PO Box and would like people to send their newspaper articles about the girls from newspapers from across the world (not the entire paper, just the pages with the article), preferably the ones on the front page. Please no U.S. papers, unless there is something truly unique about it. The address is PO Box 540831 North Salt Lake, UT 84054. With how many hits we are getting and emails we are getting, I realize that this may blow up the Post Office, so please be gentle. Now to other news, the girls are still doing excellent. The Doctors are very pleased. Hopefully they'll be off the ventilators in a couple days and start waking up. We are the most proud and lucky parents in the world to have 5 of the most beautiful children in the world. Thanks to everyone for everything, the support and response is just blowing us away and I know without a doubt that without all the prayers things would have never have gone as well as they did.

Thanks for all the responses to the web site request. Wow. I'll have to wade through all of them and see what would work best for us. Thanks so much for all the wonderful emails, I've been able to read a few today, but barely even scratch the surface. The girls are doing fine. Maliyah started her dialysis this afternoon. Watch for Courtney on the news. She did a press conference with us and was so brave. Dr. Meyers also did a wonderful job as did Erin. Thank you all, we really feel all the prayers.

I'm trying to get the rest of the website up, but it's still much too busy to get any pictures on. I'm working on a text only site. If anyone does website hosting for high volume sites and would be willing to host the site, email me and use "Web Site Hosting" as the subject.

        August 09, 2006

7:00 am Well, the girls have just been as stable as can be. The nurses said their vital signs have followed each other, like when Kendra's heart rate goes up, so does Maliyah's. So we know they still have a huge connection, it's just not physical anymore. Courtney got to see them yesterday. She did so well and was so strong. But later that night she cried about missing them the way that they were. We told her that it was ok to feel like that because we did too. But we said that they would be able to do more with her once they got better. She asked that I give her a blessing so she would be comforted and she seemed much better after I did. We thank everyone for their support and prayers. We have received thousands of email over the past few days, so hopefully we will be able to read each one fairly soon. These last few days have probably been the hardest days of our lives, but at the same time they've been the happiest.

August 08, 2006

4:00pm The girls look great!!! It is very strange to see them separate, but they look wonderful. It really is like seeing them born again. Kendra woke up when I kissed her on the forehead. She moved around a little and went back to sleep. If you don't believe in miracles, I would hope that you could see the miracle in this. We have seen some things that leave no doubt that miracles exist today. A huge surgery like this without even 1 minor set back, how can you deny it? Thanks for all the prayers, emails, and thoughts. Please remember to keep praying that they recover well and don't get an infection.

August 08, 2006

10:00am This is so unbelievable, the doctors say that they don't think it could have gone any better than it did. They didn't think they would have enough skin for Kendra, but they did!!! The doctors are soooo amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better team. We owe them our lives and even more.

August 08, 2006

8:45am Kendra is all done!!! They were able to close, and their both being transported to PICU and should be there close to the same time. This is so amazing.

August 08, 2006

8:20am Our little Maliyah is all done!!!! They are just cleaning her up and will transport her to the PICU in a little while. We are so proud of her. We can't believe how strong she is. This is an absolute miracle! Kendra is still getting her abdominal wall reconstructed so she'll be along in just a little while. We are so proud of them and can't wait to see them.

August 08, 2006

3:15 am They have finished reconstructing Maliyah's pelvis and are now beginning to close the skin. She is doing great! She has had to have one unit of blood and one unit of plasma. Not bad at all! They are still doing some reconstruction on Kendra's pelvis. They are not yet ready to begin closing her skin yet. We are not sure how long before they will be able to start doing that. Everyone is still in great spirits, although a little delirious at this point! We could not be more pleased with the outcome of this surgery. The surgeons and support staff have been absolutely amazing. We are so grateful for all of them!

August 08, 2006

1:00 A.M. The doctors now are reconstructing the pelvic region of both girls. Vital signs are still very good in both girls. A press conference was held at approximately 12:30A.M. with many various news teams there asking questions about how Jake & Erin have been holding up throughout the day and what was going through their minds when news came that the separation was complete. They were also asked about the future of the girls and how things like school proms might affect them. Erin responded by saying that things like that were now going to be possible. Limited video of the operating room can currently be seen on as well as some of the national news websites. May the Lord continue to watch over these precious girls and all families everywhere who need His helping hand.

August 08, 2006

12:00 midnight The girls are doing great in their own rooms. Maliyah still has not had to have any blood! That, in and of itself, is an absolute miracle! We have definitely felt the strong presence of many angels with us, and we feel absolutely certain that many more angels, including the girls' Grandpa Herrin, have been and continue to be with the girls throughout this entire process! 12:25 am We just saw video of the girls for the first time as they were taking Kendra to her own bed!!! It is on It was so exciting!!

August 08, 2006

The girls have been moved to separate rooms. The journey with them conjoined has ended and the new journey with them apart has begun. Thank you for all the prayers, we know without a doubt in our minds, that a higher power has held them and us through this.

August 07, 2006

10:51pm The girls are technically separated!!! They haven't moved them to separate rooms yet, but they are doing great separately. The last two updates were by me (Jake). Thank you everyone.

August 07, 2006

10:15 pm The doctors are continuing to work on separating the liver, as well as separating their pericardium (sac surrounding the hearts) and their sternum. Things seem to be moving more rapidly now and we are getting updates more often. Jake and Erin are still hanging in there. The owner of Luv Sac has graciously sent a big Luv Sac for them to relax on, which has helped tremendously. The chairs in this room are VERY uncomfortable! Everyone is still in good spirits though--still laughing. Laughter helps a lot!

August 07, 2006

9:50 pm The doctors have finished separating the pelvis and are now working to separate their liver. They think within a couple of hours they should be completely separated. It's going great!! We can't believe there have been no road bumps so far. We couldn't have asked for things to go any better. We can't attribute it to anything other than the power of fasting and prayer. Thank you all for your continued prayers!

August 07, 2006

9:15 The doctors are still working their way through the pelvic region. Kendra finally had to have a little blood, but Maliyah still has not had to have any--not too bad after 11 hours! Please send extra prayers for Erin. The lengthiness is beginning to wear on her a lot. She is trying so hard, but as you can imagine, the waiting has been going on now for almost 15 hours and she really needs some extra strength to be able to endure the long hours that remain. Thanks everyone!!

August 07, 2006

8:30 pm The latest update is that the doctors are working at separating the back side of the pelvic region. Still no need for a blood transfusion after 10 hours!!! The girls' vitals are still stable and they are warm. The circulating nurse tells us the doctors seem to be progressing faster than she expected. The mood is still good, although we're all getting a little tired. On a side note to those sending emails, please let us know where you are from. We love seeing the responses from many different places. Thank you all again for the incredible support! P.S. Megan and Ryan--enjoy your honeymoon!! We miss you!

August 07, 2006

6:18 Doctors are now working on separating the pelvis. The girls are still doing great. They still haven't had to give them any blood. We can't believe it! Eight hours into the actual surgery! Jake and Erin are still holding up fine. We've been reading everyone's emails. Wow!! What an incredible outpouring of love and support. We are all so grateful.

August 07, 2006

4:10 pm The doctors have still spent much of the time examining everything. Latest word is that they are going to begin separating the girls' bladder next. It's a slow process, but we are so glad that the doctors are taking their time. Jake and Erin are still holding up really well. We are all amazed at the strength they are showing. We all definitely feel the strength of all the prayers that are being offered around the world for Kendra and Maliyah. Thank you all so very much! We have complete faith that everything will be just fine.

August 07, 2006

3:00 pm No new news to report. The doctors have spent the last hour just examining everything. Everyone is still in great spirits. It feels like we're having a big family reunion. It is really helping Erin and Jake to have so much support around them.

August 07, 2006

2:06 pm The doctors have finished separating the small and large intestines and are now working on the urinary tracts and bladders of both girls. Their vitals are still great with minimal blood loss.

August 07, 2006

1:00 pm Doctors are now working on separating the girls' small intestine. Dr. Meyers (head surgeon) says everything is going just as planned. Vitals are still great and they still haven't needed any blood. Jake and Erin are in great spirits. Jake is playing X-Box with his nephew and Erin is chatting with friends. Erin's church friends brought in lunch for everyone at the hospital. We really appreciate everything everyone is doing, especially the continued prayers!

August 07, 2006

11:45 am The girls are still doing well. First incision was at 10:27. They are beginning to separate large intestine. Doctors say there has been little bleeding and their vitals are stable. Although the rest of the website has been temporarily disabled, we still welcome your comments by email.

August 07, 2006

They are just placing different IVs for the surgery and getting everything ready. Girls are doing well. We are feeling good and calm.

August 07, 2006

We had a wonderful family get together last night. The girls were as happy as can be. We gave them a wonderful blessing last night, and we feel really good about today. The girls wanted to get out of bed and run around, so they did. They slept really well, much better than us. They were happy and got to do a scavenger hunt on the way to the OR. They were perfectly happy until they got to the OR and then they started to cry. They put them most of the way asleep before they left us. It was very emotional, but we know they are in God's hand and He will take good care of them. We are doing well, we have all of our family around. It will be both a mourning of them not being conjoined anymore and a celebration of a new beginning. We had to limited the website to the news only for today because of all the traffic. I think it's the only way to keep it up.

August 06, 2006

The girls are still doing very well. This morning they told us their surgery was tomorrow and we told them that we were going to have a sleepover tonight. They were so excited. At about noon they gave them stuff to flush their system and had to put in feeding tubes into their noses. They hated that, and it has made them a little sick. They aren't able to eat anymore since lunch. We are doing well, although shedding many tears today. Not so much because we are scared or nervous, but because we are mourning their last day conjoined. We will be giving them blessings tonight and a lot of family is coming up tonight to see them for the last time before their surgery. We cannot believe how brave they are, fully aware that they are being separated tomorrow. They seem to have no anxiety and say they are excited. We know the ride to the OR tomorrow will probably be hard for them, but they are even excited for that because they get to have a scavenger hunt for pictures on the ceiling. I wish we were as brave as them. But we know everything will go well. We will be having someone keep the website up tomorrow even if we don't feel like it, so hopefully the website will stay up and not crash again. Thank you for all the kind words and prayers.

August 05, 2006

The girls are doing well. We told them last night that they only had 2 days until their surgery. We asked them if that's a long time or a short time, and they said it was a short time. So we asked them if they were excited or scared, and they said they were excited. Their strength and courage gives us strength and courage, what amazing girls they are. I wish everyone could see what we see. There is no doubt in my mind that God lives and sends little children to help us adults get back to Him. Yesterday we were talking to the doctor about naming children, because he had just had his first child. And we told him how we came up with Kendra Deene and that Deene was after her great-grandmother Wyllodeene. Kendra says "hey I know Wyllodeene, she was kneeling down beside my bed praying for me." Only she died when the girls were very young. We have never talked about her much to them. There is no doubt in our minds that that is what she saw. We know their relatives on the other side as well as other angels are watching over them.

August 04, 2006

All the traffic caused the website to crash last night, so I had to disable the photo gallery temporarily until the high volume of traffic goes down. We're sorry about that. Check back in a week or so to see the photos. Justin has started taking steps, so we're really excited. Again thanks for all the support and prayers.

August 03, 2006

The support we are receiving has been amazing. Since the national story came out it's been overwhelming. We've been trying to tell Kendra and Maliyah how famous they've become, but it's no big deal to them. They are so funny. We tell them they're famous like Dora. They think that's funny. We appreciate the prayers and support so much. Only a few more days to go. The sore on Kendra has gotten even worse. The doctors think it will be ok though. We just have to keep them off of it until then. It's nice to see so many kind words from all over the world, especially from my (This is Jake) former home of Alabama and Mississippi. Especially the one from Milbrook, I used to live in Prattville. Thanks again to everyone. We know the Lord will hear all prayers no matter what religion.

August 03, 2006

This is a message from Maliyah: To the lady from France, thank you for the presents. To my best friend Ashley, thank you for visiting me. To everyone, thanks for praying for me. Thank you for lots and lots of presents and cards. I love everybody. This is a message from Kendra: To the lady that gave me the little ponies, thank you. Thank you for all the balloons. Thank you for all the prayers.

August 01, 2006

Everything is coming together. The doctor's had their last big planning meeting yesterday. The area on Kendra's expander is getting worse, but I don't think it will cause them to push back the surgery anymore. The girls are still in good spirits, although we know it is starting to wear on them. We appreciate all the prayers and support, also the wonderful gifts people have sent. We know we could have never done this alone. These last few days of waiting will probably be the toughest. The anticipation and anxiety is starting to set in. We long for this to be over, but aren't anxious to go through it.

July 25, 2006

Well, the surgery has been put back one week until August 7th. It is really hard having to wait longer, but they feel that they need to give their skin a little bit longer to heal. They won't be doing any more expanding, so that's a big plus. They feel they have enough skin, it's just a matter of making the skin strong again. But on the bright side, we'll be able to spend another week with the girls conjoined.

July 22, 2006

The girls had a really hard day yesterday. The medicine they give them seems to make them very onry all day long. It was a hard day, but they slept good last night, and are perfectly fine today. It's funny how it makes them completely opposite of how they normally act. Nothing you can do or say can make them happy and everything bugs them. Hopefully only one more Friday to go.

July 21, 2006

The girls came through the expansion well. The doctor said that the one expander is looking good and they will just wait and see how it responds to the expansion to know if they need to delay the separation. But it doesn't look like they will need to. He said they would know for sure on Sunday.

July 20, 2006

The girls separated one of their conjoined twin dolls today. It was so neat. They gave the babies medicine and said that they were so brave. It is incredible to us how much they really do understand. We still feel at peace as the day draws closer. The one expander is looking better but we won't know for sure until Tuesday if they will need to delay the surgery. There's another expansion tomorrow, so we're not looking forward to that. But only 2 more to go, hopefully. The girls saw Austin walk for the first time today. They have missed their little brothers so much. Courtney went to Lagoon (amusement park) the other day.  She rode on a roller coaster for the first time.  She had fun and said it was so crazy, but she doesn't want to do it again.  Kendra and Maliyah continue to be as happy and lively as ever. We appreciated all the prayers and support.

July 17, 2006

The girls are doing very well. They are no longer allowed to leave their bed unless they use their walker and no pressure is on any of their expanders. They have to lie certain ways to keep pressure off of certain expanders. Hopefully we can make it so that they won't have to delay the surgery, but if they have to, it's ok, whatever is going to be safest. They are in good spirits though and seem to understand why we need to do these things. Thanks for all the thoughts, letters, and prayers. It helps knowing we're not going through this alone.

July 14, 2006

The expansion went very well today and their pain has been controlled very well so far. They are still very agitated though from the anestesia. The doctor said the one area where the expander is not looking as well as it should and if it doesn't start looking better, it may delay their surgery a week or two. We're trying to keep pressure off of it as much as possible. Please pray that the area will heal well.

July 13, 2006

The girls are doing great! All but one of their expanders look great and the other one we're trying to keep them off of it as much as possible. It isn't breaking down yet, but it has bruises and blisters, but is looking better than it did. They have been playing and having such a good time. Their primary class at church recorded all their favorite church songs on to a tape that the girls can listen to. We have been videotaping them singing. They are in such good spirits. They have yet another expansion tomorrow, so we're hoping it goes better than the last 2. The doctors and nurses had a meeting yesterday to make a plan about their pain management. They are going to not only be using pain meds but also medicine to relax them and keep them confortable. We hope that it works. As the day of separation draws closer, we get more and more nervous, but also excited. But we know they will do great, they are such strong little girls.

July 10, 2006

The girls are doing very well today. They played in their playroom today. Austin started walking yesterday and is getting really good at it. He won't really do it unless we encourage him, but it's amazing how fast he picked up on it. He seemed like he should have started months ago, but was too chicken. He already has balance down so it's just a matter of him having the confidence. We hope that the rest of our kids will learn to walk this year too. :-)

July 08, 2006

The expansion went well yesterday, but the girls were in a great deal of pain. They are doing much better today though. They will be going to the ICU after every expansion from now on, so they get their pain under control. I guess it's not so bad to have 6 good days and 1 bad day every week, but it's still hard to see them in pain. They are little troopers though and never complain and never question why they have to go through this. They understand and seem to know why and that everything will be ok in the end. They are incredible.

July 06, 2006

The girls having been doing wonderful. They are pretty much back to their old selves, playing and having fun. Their pain is completely non-existent with Maliyah getting the occasional cramp in her leg. They are able to get up and walk in their walker around the hospital and to their playroom. It is not nearly as bad for them being in the hospital as we thought it would be. They get so many visitors and have so many nice doctors and nurses. So far everything is going about as well as we could have possibly hoped. The will be having another expansion done tomorrow, but we don't expect it to be too painful, we think they'll be fine again by Saturday. But knowing them, it will probably be much sooner than even that. We wish everyone could meet them to truly understand how amazing they really are, hopefully the media we are doing will be able to show much of their personalities. The support we have had has been incredible. From our family to our friends and neighbors and also from people around the world. It is refreshing to see the good in people rather than the negative you see on TV so much.

July 03, 2006

Kendra and Maliyah are doing better and better everyday. We are getting them up to walk around. They are so scared of moving that they are getting cramps in their legs. Jake is taking them to the play room today. That will be a nice break from their room. We have gotten a lot of cards from kids that tell Kendra and Maliyah to get well soon. Thank you very much for the cards. They just finished opening the last one. The fast and prayers went very well on Sunday. One of the child life specialist at the hospital made dolls that look like Kendra and Maliyah (3 of them). Courtney took her to church with her because she missed her sisters. She calls them Kendra and Maliyah, the dolls sleeps with her every night sense she got it. Courtney loves going to the hospital and playing with her sisters. Boy does she miss them!!

June 30, 2006

Kendra and Maliyah had their lines (broviach). They also had their tissue expanders expanded today. The day was long and hard. Jake and I are so tired, Justin and Austin go right to bed, Courtney comes home and wants to go next door and play with our friends dogs. She loves dog. Maybe someday we will get one. Jake wants a boxer they are pretty nice dogs. I just want to remind people that we are having a special prayer day on Sunday, those of you that are LDS we are having a fast for the girls. Please say a special prayer for Kendra and Maliyah on that day. Also Courtney is having a really hard time. She HATES when people ask her how her sisters are doing. It makes her sad when she thinks about not having them to play with. She is such a special little girls. She is mature for her age. This is so hard on her. When we took Kendra and Maliyah for the tissue expanders she thought they were separated she asked if her sisters were little like babies, because I told her how little they are going to be after they are separated. She is so cute!

June 29, 2006

The girls are still doing very well, better each day. Kendra had a CT scan yesterday and they injected dye into her to see all of her blood supply. They will do the same for Maliyah today. The sedation makes them pretty sick though. From what we are told everything looks great so far. They will have their first expansion tomorrow, so hopefully that goes good and they aren't in too much pain. We gave them a bath last night and they did not like that, they are still pretty sore, but probably have more anxiety about us picking them up and touching their "owees." Thanks for all the nice comments, the support has been remarkable, it really does help knowing hundreds of people are with us.

June 27, 2006

The girls are doing great today. Still very sore, but happy and playing. They have their own playroom at the hospital that they were able to play in for over an hour this morning. They are so amazing on how brave they are through all of this. They are truly our heroes.

June 26, 2006

Kendra and Maliyah are doing well. They pain is starting to get better. When we change their diaper they us to scream and cry, but now they just cry and little and say owee owee. On Friday they are going to sedate the girls for the doctors to put more saline in the tissue expanders. They will also put a broviach in each of the girls. We are trying to juggle everything, Jake's mom is watching the other kids and we are very grateful for her. The kids love her too.

June 24, 2006

Jake is at the hospital right now with the girls. I thought he would go first and I would stay with the kids that then we will switch. Kendra and Maliyah are doing really well. They are not in al much pain as I thought they were going to be. Thanks for all the prayers. I am so tired and need to get a nap, so I will talk to you all later.

June 23, 2006

yes the separation is about 6 weeks away. today is the surgery to get the tissue expanders inserted and they will be in the hospital until the separation. one of the news stories messed that up. sorry for the confusion.

June 23, 2006

the surgery went well. the girls are still pretty groggy. they put in 17 expanders which is way more than we expected. we took the kids to the zoo and swimming yesterday and they had so much fun. we will post links to the news stories when we can. you can find them on and we are writing from jakes cell phone now. so we will try to keep everyone updated as much as possible.

June 19, 2006

4 more days.. We had such a great time today. I took Courtney, Kendra and Maliyah to see Cars the movie. Courtney loved it! Kendra and Maliyah wouldn't stop talking. I even got them popcorn and drinks to keep them quiet, that didn't work. Austin and Justin stayed with grandma Pasty, they had a great time. Than when Jake came home from work he took the girls to his moms house, than to the temple, and to a water fall that is close to our house. They had a great time throwing rocks into the water.

June 18, 2006

"Apple, Orange, and Peach - each, in its own way, is unique and valuable. The same is true of people - each individual, regardless of superficial differences, is equally precious. Your open hearts, kindness, loving words and actions, support and friendship to your children no matter what obstacles come in the way will nurture and flourish their growth as beautiful, giving, and intelligent human beings." This is a beautiful guest book entry. Than this person wrote at the end "nature makes no mistakes". I TRULY believe this. Our children are ours before we are born. I believe from the bottom of my soul! I believe that we are able to chose some of our challenges in life. I believe Kendra and Maliyah chose to come to this earth conjoined. They have been the most precious and blessed of Father in Heavens children. They are going to have a long HARD road ahead, but I know that there will be so many praying for them and we thank you for that. Only 5 more days until their first surgery.

June 17, 2006

6 more days... We had such a great time today. We had family and friends that came over for a HUGE BBQ. We are so lucky to have so many people that love and care about Kendra and Maliyah. We are such blessed parent to be able to be parents of ALL 5 of our children. We are glad that Heavenly Father entrusted us with Kendra and Maliyah. We have learned so much from them. Their courage and strength is truly amazing. They have taught us what life is really about. I just wish that though this hard time that we were about to be a family. That hurts me!! I just hope that we have nurses they can be a GREAT support for our family and especially Kendra and Maliyah. Thank you so much for praying for EVERYONE in our family. That will make our journey a little more bearable.

7 more days... We are having a BBQ tomorrow to wish Kendra and Maliyah good luck as they start their new journey. What a JOURNEY this is going to be. Jake took the girls last night to get stuff for the party. He also bought each one a new toy. He loves his girls so much. Keep praying for our family. We have really loved reading the guestbook and the special emails people are sending, so thank you for those. They are really lifting our spirits.

June 15, 2006

As I have said in earlier posts we are trying to keep busy. Kendra and Maliyah have a urinary tract infection. They really didn't want to do anything yesterday. We spent early even at the doctors. They have a pretty nasty infection. They were up last night crying because they were in pain. The meds are starting to work, but their not 100% yet. We want to take them to see Cars (the movie) today. We will see if that is going to happen.

June 13, 2006

We had a great day today.. We started the day really early taking Courtney to school this morning. After that I called some friends to see if they wanted to have lunch and let the kids play. We first went to the park. When we got there I realized that it would be to hard for Kendra and Maliyah to get around. We jumped back in the car. We decided the easiest place to take Kendra and Maliyah was McDonald's. They had a lot of fun playing with her 3 kids. My friend was laughing at me because of how hard it was for us to get in and out of the car. She said she never realized how hard that was for us to go places. We have four kids that don't walk.

June 12, 2006

This time is getting harder and harder for us. Kendra and Maliyah only have 11 days left. We went swimming today. We are trying to stay busy. This last little while is going to be hard. Jake is going to take some days off work to be with us. I hope that I can find the strength this next little while. I don't want this time to end. They have to stay in the hospital until the end of Aug beginning of Sept. I want you all to PLEASE savor everyday with your families. They are the most important in the world. We know that the end will be a new beginning, but I will forever MISS them being conjoined. They have such a special bound that will last forever. Please pray that we will all have the strength to get though this.

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY JUSTIN!!! HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY AUSTIN!!! My little boys are growing up so fast. We are so proud of all of our children. Kendra, Maliyah and Courtney are at the Air Show with Jake. I stayed out until 4 in the morning scrap book with friends. It was a lot of fun. I met a lady that son just receive a heart transplant. Its just amazing how something like that can change a person life. Her son is doing so well. It makes you realize how important it is to donate your organs. What a different it can make in the lives of people. Please be a donor!! It can help people like Maliyah and other children and adult. What a blessing you can give others. If you are interested we have a link from our web site to the organ donor web site. Make someone's life easier.

June 09, 2006

Kendra, Justin And I are all sick. We have been hearing that the flu is going around. We are pretty achy. On a side note, make sure you check out our links. My Dad is a cancer survivor. He is riding his bike from Reno to Salt Lake City to raise money for cancer research. Go to his web site to get more information. If you are interested in donating money to Kendra and Maliyah we ask that you donate to the Make-a-wish foundation of Utah or Primary Children's Medical Center. Only 14 more days until our first surgery. Erin

Thank you all for the well wishes.

I need to update. Justin and Austin's First Birthday is on June 10th. We are so excited!! I can't believe how quickly this year has gone by. Austin is cruising around the furniture. He also will stand up in the middle of the room. He will start walking soon I think. He has 7, count them 7 TEETH!!! He is so cute. Justin is also doing well. He is soooooo little. He just started drinking from a bottle. He started crawling!! He is also starting to pull to standing. Courtney is having her dance recital tomorrow. She is getting really good at it. She loves dancing. She is taking summer school. Kendra and Maliyah are getting ready for their surgery that is coming up soon. They are still at home. They seem to be very healthy. I think they are getting more excited to be separated. I know that we really just want it to be over with. We have been waiting so long for this, it is time to get things over with and start a new faze of their/our lives.

June 01, 2006

Kendra and Maliyah have their first ear infection today. I can't believe how fast they get sick. They are having a good summer so far. Kendra loves to play on the computer. Maliyah loves to play Barbies. I can't wait until they are able to more easily get around. Courtney is going to summer school. This is going to be along summer. Erin

May 28, 2006

We are still doing great. We are having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Kendra, Maliyah, Justin and Courtney were sick last week. Sometimes I wonder why we get sick so much. Well I will try and update more later. Erin

May 25, 2006

We updated some of the photos. We just got professional pictures done and pictures from our camping trip.

May 23, 2006

We went camping this last weekend. It was so much fun and a lot of work. Kendra and Maliyah got on their first "fast" boat. They cried for a little bit and than after they saw their mom out on the tube they loved it. I don't think they will do that again though. The kids caught frogs and 2 snakes. Jimmy(Jake's brother) he caught 1 snake. Grandma Herrin bought all of the grand kids and great grand kids a bug catcher kit. Kendra and Maliyah put their frogs in there. Kendra and Maliyah were scared of them, but they were ok in the but catcher. Courtney is the best frog catcher in the world. Everyone had a great time.

May 17, 2006

Courtney lost her hamster again for the 3rd time. We told Courtney that her hamster probably got outside because it has been gone for such a long time. She was so sad about that. She went and got the phone and said that she was going to call 911, so they could help her find her hamster. We told her that she couldn't do that. We said instead pray to Heavenly Father to help you/us find your hamster. We started looking again. I am scared of hamster, so guess who finds him, me. I have found him every time he has gotten out, with the lords help. We are just glad that we found it. I wouldn't of been able to sleep tonight. Kendra and Maliyah are doing well. They were sick last night and felling better today. They have their last day of school tomorrow. They are so sad! They have the best teachers. Thank you TEACHERS for teaching our children. What a amazing job you teachers have. Justin and Austin are doing well. They are such happy babies. We are blessed with 5 beautiful children.

May 13, 2006

We were on the news last night. Its always weird seeing ourselves or should I say myself of TV. We had professional pictures done. We will add more of those pictures soon. We wanted to make sure that we had pictures of our family when Kendra and Maliyah are still conjoined. I was thinking the other day, it is really sad that Justin and Austin won't remember Kendra and Maliyah being conjoined.

May 08, 2006

We meet with 2 of the doctors today. They doctors are very helpful in answering all of our questions. We had a funny thing happen yesterday. I was changing their diaper and Kendra was asking if they could go outside to play. I told Kendra that they couldn't be outside by themselves. Maliyah sets up and says " we're not alone, we're stuck together". I just laughed. They are right there never alone. I forgot to write that Courtney learned a couple of weeks ago to ride her bike. We are so proud of her. Austin is starting whole milk. He doesn't really like his bottle anymore, so we are going to start sippy cups, to see if he likes them better. Justin will only take one kind of baby food. He is very picky. He just loves to nurse. We bought the kids a wagon with a trailer. Everyone fits in it except Courtney. She loves to pull it. Kendra and Maliyah only have 3 more days of preschool left. They are sad about that. They love their preschool teachers. Courtney is sad to leave her kindergarten teacher, to start first grade. I can't believe it, I have a first grader.

May 03, 2006

I talked with the doctor today. We are still on schedule for the end of May. I can't believe it. We are scared and excited, but mostly scared. I still can't believe it! I keep saying that. When we talk to Kendra and Maliyah about the surgery they ALWAYS ask "we're not going to be separated tomorrow". Can you imagine what they most be thinking. I am sure they don't understand. We are going to take the kids camping for the weekend, before the surgery. We have so many people that are so kind and want to donate a kidney to Maliyah. I am so glad that we have a large family, more kidneys to chose from :). Please pray that things will go smooth. That Kendra and Maliyah will be at peace as the surgery gets closer.

May 02, 2006

I haven't updated in awhile. The boys have been sick. We were up last night with the girls and boys. Austin's throat was hurting. He had 102.8 fever. Justin had a stomach bug. Well today we had some people over from Early Intervention to make sure that Justin and Austin are OK developmental. They are right on track!!! Good job boys. Kendra and Maliyah were sup post to start the tissue expanders at the end of this month, I don't think that is going to workout. We might have to wait until June. We are really bummed about that. That means Kendra and Maliyah will be in the hospital during RSV season, unless we can get the expanders sooner. I hope it works out. Pray the doctor can get them soon.

April 26, 2006

Kendra and Maliyah are in the Make-a-Wish annual report.. It looks great.. In the first picture Kendra and Maliyah are wearing the crowns from Maliyah wish.. When you turn the page it is Kendra and Maliyah with Minnie and Mickey.. What an amazing thing the Make-a-Wish foundation does for the kids.. I want to ask each of you that log on to our site to make a donation to the Make-a-Wish Foundation in Kendra and Maliyah's name.. Please help make the dreams of a child or children with life threatening illnesses.. Thank you Make-a-Wish for all of your help.. We love what you do to help make wishes come true..

April 24, 2006

Everyone is doing great.. Kendra and Maliyah are at school.. Courtney had crazy hair day at school today.. It looks great... Austin is starting to walk along the furniture. Just is setting up without falling over.. We still don't have a date for the tissue expanders.. We will keep you all updated on that as is gets closer..

April 17, 2006

We updated our web site for some new and exciting pictures.. We also added Justin and Austin to the family section... I hope that we stopped the spammers and hackers. I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday. Courtney, Kendra and Maliyah had spring break last week. We went to a couple of movie and played outside. They were so tired, but ready to go back to school. We still haven't heard from the plastic surgeon when they are going to put the tissue expanders in. We think that it will be at the end of May. If all goes to plan we will have the girls separated in July. We are nervous, but we know its what the Lord planned all along for. It will be a long journey, but we will get through it as a family. What every doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. It will be something that no one will ever forget!!! We can't imagine Kendra and Maliyah separated. It will be like a new birth.

April 17, 2006

Well, we finally made some changes to hopefully keep these moron spammers and hackers out, hopefully it works.

April 06, 2006

I don't know what happened to all the post. Probably the hacker that had to much time on his hands. That is just rude!!!! So much time wasted!!!:(

February 25, 2006

We had Kendra and Maliyah's Birthday Party today. It was so much fun!!!! They loved eating their birthday cake.

February 22, 2006

Kendra and Maliyah are having their birthday party on Saturday. They are so excited.

February 13, 2006

I have started to plan for Kendra and Maliyah's Birthday party. It is going to be a princess party. The castle in the basement will be so cool for the kids. Courtney is the VIP President in her class this week. Justin is starting to like his baby food a lot more. Austin is pulling to standing when you hold his hands.

February 12, 2006

Courtney, Kendra and Maliyah slept over at their Grandma's house this weekend. They were a little upset when I was leaving. The girls are pretty excited for their birthdays. Maliyah want Belle and the Beast Barbies. They saw them on TV. Its amazing that there are three other sets on conjoined twins that share Kendra and Maliyah's birthday. The girls are pretty healthy right now. Courtney just started dance. Austin if 4 pounds heavier than Justin. We still need to update the web site with there pictures. Maybe when my husband will when he get a chance. He won't let me do it. Better safe than sorry right. I hate computers:)

February 04, 2006

I wanted to write a lot more about our trip to Disney World. Kendra and Maliyah got sick right after we got home. I had to tell everyone about our experience. It was the most amazing wish Kendra could've hoped for. We got to Disney World and we were watching the show where they crowned Cinderella. After the show was over I asked one of the workers if she could helps us meet the princesses, she said that they are all around the park. While I was talking to this person a manager came over and asked us if he could do something for us. I said that Kendra was on her wish and wanted to meet those princesses. He first said that they don't do that for the wish kids anymore, but he smiled and told us to meet him around to the back of the castle and he would see what he could do. Little did we know what was going to happen. Her wish was going to come TRUE!! We walked through a very large door and in a very long line were Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Aurora and Snow White. There were also Princes, the Fairy Godmother and The King. We couldn't believe it, tears were running down my face as they doted over my three beautiful girls. What more could we have asked for. Kendra to this day will say that Belle kissed me right here, pointing to her cheek. Aladdin told Courtney that he was going to blow her a kiss. She was just beaming. Jasmine is Courtney's favorite Princess. After a while they asked us to go and watch the show again. Through the show they would blow kisses to the girls. They mouthed words to them and waved. I was just in heaven. It was truly the highlight of our trip. We couldn't have asked for anything else.

January 26, 2006

Kendra and Maliyah are home from the hospital. They are feeling a lot better. Courtney was so excited to see her sister. I think the boys are so happy to have mommy and daddy back too.

January 25, 2006

Kendra and Maliyah were admitted to the hospital yesterday. The girls had been throwing up and just very dehydrated. They were very sick and in a lot of pain. They probably have a kidney infection that got into their blood. They are pretty sick. I am missing their voices and questions. We just want the girls to come home. They are going to be putting in a pick-line tomorrow if Kendra's oxygen stays up above 90. Her heart rate has been down a lot. Maliyah seems to be doing a lot better than Kendra. Kendra seems to be a lot more sick than her sister. This hospital stay has been really hard on me because I just want my family be together. We missed family night last night. Our schedule is all messed up.. I am just tired and worn down. Courtney is also having a hard time with the girls being in the hospital. You could say that the three of them are conjoined. I love being a mother(except when the kids are sick)!! When we were on our trip Austin started sitting up. They are growing so fast.

January 22, 2006

We got back from Florida on Friday. We stayed at "Give Kids The World". We had such a wonderful time. We had such special treatment from everyone at the parks. We still haven't made a decision. We really haven't thought about separation the whole time that we were on our trip. Thank Heavens for a little break. We will start talking about it soon. We are in no hurry to make any decision.

January 11, 2006

I just wanted to update about the Care Conference that we had on Monday. I was really in just a daze. The doctors were VERY reassuring that Kendra and Maliyah could be separated. They also said that Maliyah would be able to receive a kidney transplant. This is a very hard decision to make. I really feel at peace. I know that we are not alone in this decision. We know that the lord will help us. We have wonderful doctors that will take great care and support us 100% whatever we decide. We have asked for blessing from my father. We will be fasting tomorrow. Please keep everyone in our family in your thought and prayers.

January 07, 2006

We are meeting with the doctors on Monday to decided if we are going to separate Kendra and Maliyah. We had Kendra's make-a-wish party it was wonderful. We are going to Florida. We are so excited that we are able to see the princesses. Please pray for our family so that we will be able to make the right decision. Thank you for all of the best wishes.

January 03, 2006

I am very sorry that I haven't updated sooner. We were very sick. Kendra and Maliyah got sick first with a stomach bug. Then passed it to EVERYONE. Jake got it twice, I got it once and Courtney got it once also and Justin and Austin both got it once. Then the next week Kendra and Maliyah were still throwing up and then they got pneumonia and a kidney infection. I also got a kidney infection and it was awful. Justin and Austin still have a cold. Kendra and Maliyah lost about three pounds. They are making up for it now and will not stop eating. It's just amazing!!!
